ERIKA JAYNE BRINGS 1 HIT “STARS” TO ITUNES
ANTICIPATED DEBUT ALBUM PRETTY MESS SCHEDULED FOR EARLY 2009
Erika Jayne will bring her smash hit “Stars” to music fans on Tuesday, September 30 with its debut on the iTunes Music Store. The single, which has already reached 1 on both the Billboard Club Play and Dance Radio Airplay charts, will be available on iTunes’ Pop Genre page in two different single versions. The first single bundle will include a free bonus video of the “Stars” music video, while the second version comes with a bonus mix of the song, the “Stars (Sweet Mix)”.
The availability of the single on iTunes follows the debut of the single’s video on LOGO’s music video show, The Click List. Directed by Scott Speer (Will.I.Am, The Veronicas, Paris Hilton, Brandi Carlisle), the video continues to show heat with a 2 ranking after nine weeks on-air.
“Stars,” along with the 1 Billboard Dance hit “Roller Coaster,” will be included on Jayne’s highly anticipated debut album Pretty Mess. Scheduled for release early next year, the album features production by Peter Rafelson and Eric Kupper and shows the many sides of Erika Jayne in a fusion of Dance, Pop and Electronica. Guest production includes Esthero and Jahi Lake (Chris Brown), under the production name Pinklake, as well as Ike Dirty (Lil’ Scrappy, Ying Yang Twinz), son of legendary artist Isaac Hayes. In addition, Jayne’s debut effort will feature guest percussion from the talented Shiela E on “Time to Realize” and a cover of the hit single “Sex Shooter,” originally released in 1984 by Prince protégé Apollonia.
Tracks from Pretty Mess are bringing Jayne to the big screen, with music from the album being featured in both current and upcoming films. “I Lose Myself” and “Just a Phase” make an appearance in the romantic comedy The Neighbor, starring Matthew Modine and Michelle Laroque, while “Rollercoaster” can be heard in Deal, starring Burt Reynolds, as well as the upcoming thriller Bumper. The hit single “Stars” will also be heard in American Summer, an upcoming comedy from the director of American Pie 2.
In addition to the recent success of the “Stars” single and video in the US, Jayne is making a name for herself internationally, including massive club exposure in the UK and the recent debut of “Roller Coaster” at 47 on Germany’s DDC chart. The Guardian in the UK says, “Erika Jayne is Madonna trapped in the moment when she recorded the Erotica album. She’s Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge goes trance with a dash of debauchery, or Gwen Stefani goes burlesque. She’s equal parts Hollywood glamour and S&M chic, the spawn of a Sapphic union between Rita Hayworth and Traci Lords.”
